3M and Walnut Media create awareness raising presentation for UK Manufacturing Industry with a new approach

When 3M UK's Abrasive Systems wanted to advise its customer base on a complex new EC Directive, its sales team decided on a fresh approach to engage its audience. Mike Blacksmith, Marketing Manager for Abrasive Systems explains:

'The subject matter we're dealing with is of a very complicated nature. There is a huge volume of printed information and technical data and we needed to cut through the complexity in a way that is more stimulating and ultimately more useful to our clients.'

'We approached Walnut Media for two reasons. Firstly because they were able to give us the external perspective we needed to structure a more cohesive presentation. More importantly because with their Showsuite solution - they gave us a brand new way of delivering our presentations.'

Jim Arbuckle, Sales Specialist for 3M Abrasives picks up on the benefits of Walnut Media's approach.

'In the past, we've mainly used PowerPoint for our presentations but there was always a danger that we'd become slaves to the slides, unable to easily tailor our presentation to the specific audience. With Showsuite's interactive capability we're able to call up information as the presentation unfolds - it's far more responsive to client interest.'

He continues, 'It's also far richer in terms of visual content, which really helps when giving this type of technical presentation. We can easily show clients what this legislation means and how our solutions can work for them. The video and moving imagery that Walnut Media has created and integrated into Showsuite helps us present a far more compelling case.'

At the heart of the Showsuite solution is expandability. New 'modules of content' can be added over a period of time, creating a rich presentation resource.

'It was important for us to make the presentation flexible and updatable - we didn't want to be limited to a completely static CD-ROM' says Mike. 'With Showsuite, we have a platform that will evolve alongside our content - we can add new modules as the need arises and also integrate our existing PowerPoint presentations.'

3M is currently exploring other applications for Showsuite within it's European Operation.
